Romance

Romance is a contemporary art gallery devoted to the work of artists at early stages of their career from across the US and internationally. Located in an apartment in Pittsburgh's Shadyside neighborhood, it also seeks to foster local community, creating a context for viewing art outside of traditional gallery spaces. In addition to artist books and monographs on the artists exhibited, this presentation foregrounds the gallery's limited-run journal, Mossflower, focused on the process and labor of artistic production rather than the final work alone, through ideas around making and cooking, food and food-adjacent topics that speak to cultural labor and a range of related themes. The first two issues, devoted to "residue" and "ambience," are available alongside the newly released culminating issue of Mossflower, volume 1.
