Pennsylvania

Lost in Pittsburgh is the beginning part of my 10 year journey into the lives of young adults who have chosen to live outside of the mainstream of society in the City of Pittsburgh.

The members of this subcultural group often refers to themselves as crust punks and travelers. The images presented are from a point of view that is sympathetic to my subject's perspective to gain insight as well as an understanding of youth living in this distinctive culture. I have looked to capture within this body of work the metaphors and themes in life that are universal to us all. My hope is that the images will present a more compassionate view of youth coming into adulthood outside of the accepted cultural norms.

My voyage into the lives of these young adults has been one of discovery, revelation and enlightenment.
