51 Personae

51 Personae

China

51 Personae is a self-sustaining independent art publishing project, believing that publishing is both an urgent and valid artistic practice. It places special emphasis on life experiences in Asia and the Third World, as well as marginalized voices under suppression, exploring the contemporary forms, possibilities and potential of "realism" in art as expressive actions.

Alchemic Print

Alchemic Print

Pennsylvania

Inspired by alchemical diagrams and the Japanese concept of Ma, the gap/space between objects, he explores shapes and colors to find resonating compositions. These prints become more than just design, He wants to take the viewer out of their regular life and into something new, something they never thought of. For him its about finding new notions, ideas, sensations, concepts.

Alex Belardo Kostiw

Alex Belardo Kostiw

Illinois

Alex is an interdisciplinary artist exploring strange parts and possibilities in the everyday, connections across time and space, and nebulous senses of self. Rooted in design, their work folds poetic elements into visual structures of comics and conceptually driven forms. It often invites intuitive, multimodal reading—even as it resists full unravelling.

Alex is an assistant professor in Visual Communication Design at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. In addition to self-publishing, they interrogate comics as a medium and a space through installations. They live with two cats and many reams of paper.

Almost Perfect Press

Pennsylvania

Almost Perfect Press is a micro-publisher specializing in hand-bound, small-batch publications featuring emerging writers and artists, and other short texts. My business model is anti-capitalist and community-driven. I aim to present books as neither content not commodity, but as handmade objects created with mindful intention and care. All of my books are entirely hand-bound. From sewing to trimming, I don’t use any industrial machinery or processes. The signature book from Almost Perfect is an 8.5 x 5.25 in. chapbook, with about 40 pages, colored endpapers and a kraft cover.
